Music Memory

This year’s PSIA Music Memory list takes students on an exciting musical journey spanning the Baroque era to the present day. They will enjoy the timeless beauty of Bach’s Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring, Beethoven’s beloved Für Elise, and Mozart’s sparkling Eine kleine Nachtmusik. Dramatic favorites such as Berlioz’s March to the Scaffold from Symphonie Fantastique, Puccini’s stirring Nessun Dorma, and Verdi’s triumphant Triumphal March from Aida showcase the power of orchestral and operatic music. Students will also discover colorful works like Saint-Saëns’ Finale from Carnival of the Animals, Vivaldi’s joyful Spring from The Four Seasons, and Tan Dun’s vibrant Jubilation. Upper-grade students further explore Chance’s energetic Variations on a Korean Folk Song and Glinka’s dazzling Ruslan and Lyudmila Overture. From cherished classics to exciting modern masterpieces, this year’s selections invite students to experience the richness, emotion, and imagination of great music.

Important ChangeThe grade divisions for this contest have changed. PSIA Music Memory is offered for Grades 2/3, 4/5, and 6-8. Grades 6-8 use the extended list with 20 selections; all others use the first 16 selections only.
